Danish giant Orsted is to reassess its plan to have up to 12GW of offshore wind online by 2025, according to chief executive Henrik Poulsen.
The company has already amassed a contracted pipeline of projects, some of which have final investment decisions pending, that will bring operational capacity to 11.9GW in the timeframe as mapped.
“Whether we exceed it or not, that is not something that I can comment on today as we probably need a little bit more time to assess that,” said Poulsen.
The Orsted chief said the 2025 target is likely to be revisited as part of a capital markets day planned for later this year.
Orsted currently has 5.1GW of installed capacity, including the 573MW Race Bank and 659MW Walney 3, both of which came online in the UK this year.
The developer has a pipeline of 6.8GW of contracted in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Taiwan, the largest of which is the 1.386GW Hornsea 2 off east England, which is due online in 2022.
