Orsted has contracted DNV GL to provide certification work on the 900MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm in the so-called German cluster one region of the North Sea.
Borkum Riffgrund 3 was formed from a merger of three wind farms – the 420MW and 240MW Borkum Riffgrund West 1 and 2 and 240MW OWP West projects – announced by Orsted in September.

Under the terms of the contract, DNV GL shall evaluate whether the assessment of the external conditions on site has been adequately undertaken and documented.
It will also verify that the design is sufficient, and adequately documented, to ensure a safe design.
Orsted won the rights to develop the site in Germany’s first and second offshore wind auctions in April 2017 and April 2018.
