German authorities have given the green light for Orsted’s 242MW Gode Wind 3 offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The federal maritime and hydrographic agency BSH has approved the Danish developer’s plans to merge the old Gode 3 and 4 projects as a single site.
The permit clears the way for deployment of 23 turbines in total, down from 56 originally consented, according to paperwork.
Turbines will now feature 225-meter rotors, up from a mix of 164 and 168 metres.
Siemens Gamesa 11MW units are to be deployed.
In addition, the BSH has cleared monopile turbine foundations with 11-metre diameters, compared to a mix of smaller tubulars with eight-metre diameters and four-legged jackets.
Gode Wind 3 is expected to start exporting power in 2023.
