Orsted has inked a contract with UK digital tracking company Pulse Structural Monitoring to deploy instrumentation on three turbine foundations at the Greater Changhua offshore wind complex in Taiwan.
The deal covers the design, fabrication and installation of NX2 devices, which provide monitoring and insight services including on bending and torsional strain, inclination, displacement and acceleration.
Pulse, which is an Acteon company, said the contract is its first major one in the offshore wind sector.
“Being one of Orsted’s important partners on the Greater Changhua wind farms is a major milestone for Pulse Structural Monitoring,” said Brian Taylor, head of sales at Pulse.
“As a company, we have over 20 years’ experience in our core offshore markets and have completed some smaller renewables projects, but this contract recognises that we have achieved a major and strategic transfer of skills and knowledge to the offshore wind and renewables market.”
He added: “We look forward to working with Orsted, providing data and insight on this and future developments.”
