Swire Blue Ocean jack-up Pacific Osprey has loaded out an offshore substation for EnBW’s 609MW Hohe See and Albatros complex in the German North Sea.
The crane-less jack-up vessel (pictured) is transporting the Siemens Offshore Transporter Module to the installation site 105 kilometres off Germany, where Deme Offshore jack-up Innovation will hoist it into place, EnBW said.
The Heerema-built platform will take power from the 16 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines at the Albatross segment of the development.
Power from the transformer module will feed into grid operator Tennet’s 900MW Borwin 3 hub to be fed back to shore.
Following installation, Pacific Osprey will jack-up next to the topside to provide support during welding and coating works, an EnBW spokeswoman told reNEWS.
The vessel has been out of action since last August when a section of its main crane collapsed.
The incident occurred during the foundation installation campaign for the 497MW Hohe See segment of the development, which features 71 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines.
The main crane on the vessel has been temporarily removed awaiting repairs, which will get underway later this year.
