Siemens Gamesa will use the Rebo terminal Rebo at Ostend as the base port for turbine construction at Otary’s over 487MW Seamade offshore wind farm off the coast of Belgium.
The project is set to feature 58 8.0-167 Siemens Gamesa turbines with individual output of 8.4MW. The manufacturer has signed a one-year lease for 2020.
Rebo business development manager Emmanuel Timmermans said: “We are proud that Siemens Gamesa has once again opted for Rebo. Today we have secured a position in the market, so potential partners first look at us.”
The harbour will also accommodate the foundations for the 219MW Northwester 2 offshore wind farm, which is owned by Parkwind, Colruyt, InControl and TTR. Northwester 2 is scheduled to be up and running by the first quarter of 2020.
Otary includes Socofe, Deme, Power@Sea, Elicio, Aspiravi, Green Offshore, SRIW, and Z-Kracht. Seamade is also owned by minority shareholders Electrabel and Eneco.
