Palfinger Marine has won a contract from Siemens Gamesa for the delivery of 20 cranes for the 120MW second phase of the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm off the coast of Taiwan.
The project, which comprises 20 Siemens Gamesa 6.0-154 machines, will have a PF9000-2.9 crane installed on each turbine platform.
Delivery is scheduled for the end this year, with the wind farm expected to be operational in September 2019.
Palfinger delivered two prototype PF8000-2.6 cranes to phase one of the Formosa 1 wind farm, which features two Siemens Gamesa 4.0-130 turbines operational since 2017.
Palfinger Marine global sales manager wind Rupert Reischl said: “We are proud to be chosen as supplier for Formosa 1 phase two after winning phase one. This proves that our customers are satisfied with our products and trust in us.
“Winning these contracts is an important door opener for our future efforts in the Asian offshore wind business, where the potential is huge.”
