Arcadis Ost 1 wind farm developer Parkwind has signed an early stage grid connection agreement with German Baltic Sea transmission system operator 50Hertz.
The agreement pertains to the use of a platform shared by both parties and that will connect the 247MW wind farm to Germany’s high voltage transmission grid.
The memorandum of understanding covers technical and scheduling matters related to the use of the shared platform and other issues including development, procurement, construction and operation of the platform.
In a statement, 50Hertz said the parties had also agreed their respective programmes and that they would enter into further agreements in the future.
50Hertz’s grid connection project in the Baltic Sea is known as Ostwind 2 and covers two wind farms, Arcadis Ost 1 and Iberdrola’s Baltic Eagle.
The company plans to build three submarine cable systems (OST-2-1, OST-2-2 and OST-2-3) with a voltage level of 220kv and a total capacity of 750MW to deliver this output.
50Hertz operates the electricity transmission system in the north and east of Germany and its grid has an electrical circuit length of about 10,200km.
