Polish energy developer PKN Orlen is set to embark on a survey campaign at its up-to-1200MW Baltic Power wind farm off Poland.
The company said it will soon start gathering data to assess the environmental impacts and wind conditions at its lease area in the Baltic Sea.
PKN Orlen has signed an agreement with a consortium comprising MEWO SA and the Maritime Institute of Gdansk to help determine the production potential of the site and obtain an environmental permit for the project.
PKN Orlen management board president Daniel Obajtek said: “Renewable energy sources will continue to gain prominence and we cannot afford to miss out on this opportunity for sustainable development.”
“The agreement to conduct environmental and wind surveys is another step in our preparations for the construction of an off-shore wind project,” Obajtek added.
The Polish government is looking to build 8GW of offshore projects by 2035.
