Primo Consultants and Ramboll have been awarded contracts by Energinet to look at the external threat and risk assessment as well as assessment of sufficient cable burial depths connecting Denmark’s planned Energy Islands.
Netherlands-based Primo will examine the cable route from Zealand to Energy Island Bornholm, providing analysis of threats and an assessment of the related risks in relation to the integrity of the subsea cable’s lifetime operation.
The contract also includes a preliminary assessment of sufficient burial depths taking into account the described threats and their impact along the cable route, and providing engineering consultancy during the procurement and implementation of cable installation works.
Ramboll will provide the same services relating to the cables from Jutland to Energy Island North Sea.
The agreements have a combined value of €828,362.
The offshore wind turbines around the islands are expected to supply green electricity with a capacity to power at least five million households, according to the Danish Energy Agency.
