Prysmian Group has completed cable laying ahead of schedule at Iberdrola’s 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The Italian company said termination and testing works are now currently in progress.
Prysmian won the €60m contract in 2015 to supply and install the inter-array cables for the wind farm.
It is responsible for the design, manufacture, installation, burial, termination and testing of 80km of 33kV submarine cables to connect the 70 Adwen 5MW turbines and the offshore substation.
Prysmian energy projects senior vice president Massimo Battaini said: “This milestone, which is quite uncommon in the offshore wind market, highlights the group’s capabilities in managing turnkey inter-array contracts.”
