Prysmian has signed a €30m contract with RTE for the development of an export submarine power cable system for the Gruissan floating offshore wind farm off southern France.
The company won the contract in a consortium with Asso Subsea, a specialised submarine installation contractor.
Prysmian will be responsible for the design, supply, termination, testing, and commissioning of one 25km 66kV three-core export submarine cable and another 1km 66kV submarine cable connecting to a floating substation.
The group will also provide additional 3km of onshore 66kV cables.
All submarine cables will be produced at Prysmian Group’s centre of factory in Nordenham in Germany.
The land cables will be manufactured at the Gron plant in France.
The notice to proceed is planned by the end of November and commissioning is scheduled for July 2023.
Asso Subsea will undertake the installation services for the project.
Asso Subsea will design and perform all marine works required for the project, such as cable loading, route preparatory works, cable installation and protection and HDD works at landfall.
