A subsidiary of Norwegian company Zephyr has launched a consultation on an up to 1400MW offshore wind farm off the west coast of Sweden, about 40km northwest of Gothenburg.
The Poseidon project would be split into two zones – north and south – and feature between 61 and 94 turbines with total heights of 260 metres to 340 metres.
Zephyr Vind did not specify the size of the turbines, but in the consultation document it included project examples featuring 15MW and 20MW-plus hardware.
The wind farm would feature a combination of fixed-bottom and floating foundations, with latter earmarked for the northern zone.
The consultation, which is open until 23 June, is required as part of the permitting process in accordance with the Swedish Economic Zone Act and the Continental Shelf Act.
Zephyr Vind said it plans to apply for the permits next year.
Operations are planned for around 2031, it added.
