UK outfit Specialist Marine Consultants (SMC) has won a contract to provide local workers for Dong Energy’s 573MW Race Bank wind farm off the Norfolk coast.
The company will supply wind turbine generator client representatives and cable installation staff from spring 2017, it said.
Workers will be based on the installation vessel, monitoring the construction and installation process.
Race Bank will feature 91 Siemens 6.3MW turbines and is expected to be in operation by early 2018.
“We are very pleased to be awarded this local contract by Dong Energy and are looking forward to continuing work on the Race Bank project,” operations director Dean Coates said.
“SMC have worked on a number of projects with Dong Energy, including suppling load out coordinators in Germany and Poland for the Race Bank Project.
“It’s great to see Dong Energy’s commitment to using local companies and personnel from the local area.”
