Orsted and PGE have chosen a consortium comprising Ramboll and local Polish company Projmors to prepare the construction of the 2500MW Baltica offshore wind project, off Poland.
The Polish subsidiary of engineering consultancy Ramboll, together with Polish maritime construction design office Projmors, will prepare a construction project for both stages of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm (Baltica 2 and Baltica 3), implemented jointly by Orsted and PGE Group.
The Ramboll Polska and Projmors Maritime Construction Design Office team was selected as part of a competitive dialogue tender procedure.
The consortium’s task is to prepare design documentation for foundations, turbines, internal cables and offshore transmission, as well as to obtain a building permit, and then prepare the technical design of Baltica.
The deadline for the task is the third quarter of 2023.
“We are happy to have contracted experienced consortium for one of the most important scopes in Baltica 2+3 project.
“We start cooperation with a contractor who has extensive experience in the field of offshore wind energy and the process of obtaining permits.
“We are pleased that the consortium includes a design office from Gdańsk, which is proof that Polish companies are actively using the opportunities to join the development of offshore wind energy in Poland,” said Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
According to the schedule, the launch of the first stage of the project, Baltica 3, with a capacity of up to 1045.5MW, is planned for 2026.
The next stage, Baltica 2, with a capacity of up to 1498MW, is to be commissioned in 2027.
Both stages of Baltica have location decisions (PSzW), environmental decisions for the maritime element, transmission network connection agreements with the operator and have also received the right to a contract for difference (CfD).
In 2022, the project partners expect to receive further administrative decisions for the onshore transmission element and will also start work on obtaining a building permit.
These are the last permits required before the final investment decision is made.
