Eon has had to remove a section from one of the two export cables at the 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm off the UK’s south coast, after discovering a fault.
The German utility said it is working to ascertain the extent of the problem, which was first reported exclusively in the last Thursday’s subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
The wire was supplied by LS Cable and installed by VBMS in a campaign wrapped up in late December.
Eon said wider construction timelines should not be impacted, with the first of the 116 MHI Vestas V112-3.45MW turbines to be installed in the spring.
