Global Renewables Shipbrokers (GRS) has been awarded a contract for procurement consulting services for transport and installation of the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
GRS will select and contract all the service providers for the transport of 80 monopile foundations from Europe to Taiwan on behalf of the project developer WPD.
GRS managing partner Matthias Mross said: “The Asiatic-Pacific region has seen huge growth rates in the field of offshore wind energy for years.
“We are very happy to put our experience of many years in consulting and shipbroking into practice in order to contribute to the successful realization of the largest wind farm in Taiwan.”
Yunlin will feature 80 Siemens Gamesa 8.4MW turbines and is expected online in December 2021.
The company has also set up an office in Taiwan’s capital Taipei headed by James Jheng.
Jheng said: “Since the bulk of offshore tonnage for wind energy farms is supplied by European shipowners today, to provide this offer locally in my home country in concert with GRS’s many years of expertise is the perfect symbiosis.”
