The partners developing the 309MW Rentel offshore wind farm are set to announce later today that they have reached financial close on the project, which will be located off the coast of Belgium.
A Rental spokeswoman confirmed a story first reported in subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS last week that the wind farm had reached the milestone and said an official announcement will be made this afternoon.
Rentel partners include: Otary Offshore Energy; Socofe; Z-Kracht; SRIW Environmental; DEME; Rent@Port Energy; Power@Sea; Elicio Offshore; and Aspiravi Offshore.
The wind farm will feature 42 Siemens SWT-7.0-154 turbines, which include a power boost option to raise total capacity to 309MW from the original 294MW that was planned for Rentel.
The turbines will have hub heights of 106 metres and rotor diameters of 154 metres.
ABB will manufacture export cables for the project with STX France-Offshore Energy to fabricate the offshore substation.
Construction is expected to start in 2017-2018, with first power later in 2018.
