RWE has submitted a tender for the 700MW Borssele offshore wind zone in the Netherlands alongside partner Macquarie Capital.
The company confirmed participation in twin 350MW projects to reNEWS and said: “We are optimistic to be highly competitive with our application.”
RWE joins a bidding process that closed yesterday and already includes Vattenfall and a consortium of Shell, Eneco and Van Oord.
Further companies were also expected to bid although Danish giant Dong Energy, Statoil and Eon all declined to comment.
Vattenfall submitted an independent bid to build offshore wind farms in Borssele. The Nuon parent said it participated in the tender for both the 350MW Borssele 1 and 350MW Borssele 2.
“It has been chosen to do this independently, without partnership with other parties,” said Vattenfall.
The outcome of the tender is expected in summer.
