Italian contractor Saipem has won a €460m contract for the design, construction and installation of turbine foundations at the 450MW Courseulles-sur-Mer wind farm off the coast of Normandy, France.
The contract, first reported in subscriber-only reNEWS last June, is subject to a notice to proceed, which is contingent upon the developer, Eoliennes Offshore du Calvados SAS (EODC), making a final a positive final investment decision, Saipem said.
EODC is a consortium of EDF Renewables, Enbridge, and WPD Offshore France.
The deal covers 64 monopiles with transition pieces.
Fabrication will be carried in Europe, with installation by the crane vessel Saipem 3000 (pictured).
The wind farm, scheduled for commissioning in 2024, is located up to 16km off the coast of the Calvados region, in water depths ranging from 22 to 31 metres.
Saipem’s E&C offshore division chief operating officer Stefano Porcari said: “The award of this contract further confirms Saipem’s commitment in the scenario of energy evolution and, in particular, in the construction of offshore green energy hubs. It also recognizes Saipem’s ability to add value in the execution of projects of extraordinary complexity.”
