Saipem has been awarded a contract for the 376MW Formosa 2 offshore wind farm off the coast of Taiwan.
The scope of work entails the supply of material and the fabrication of 32 jacket foundations for 32 of the wind farm’s 7MW Siemens Gamesa turbines.
The total value of both the Formosa 2 contract and the contract for the 54 turbine jackets, two substation jackets and the transportation and installation of topsides for the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland is €750m for Saipem.
Formosa 2 is being developed by a partnership between Macquarie’s Green Investment Group and Swancor Renewable Energy, off the coast of Miaoli County on the west coast of Taiwan.
Construction works for the project are scheduled to commence early 2020.
Formosa 2 will feature 47 7MW turbines in total and has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Taiwan Power Company.
Operations at the wind farm are expected to start in 2021.
