SSE and Fluor have secured planning approval for the onshore transmission infrastructure to grid connect their 1050MW Seagreen offshore wind farm in Scotland’s Firth of Forth.
Angus Council voted in favour of the application for 19km of underground cabling at a meeting on Thursday.
Councillors voted by 11 to six to back the application which replaces now-expired consent for the same job.
The approval allows the developers to connect the project to a new substation at Tealing via wires from Carnoustie Beach.
Earlier this year Edinburgh’s Court of Session overturned offshore consent for the project in a judicial review taken by bird charity RSPB.
Mainstream Renewable Power’s 450MW Neart na Gaoithe and SDIC Power’s 784MW Inch Cape projects also had their consents overturned as part of the ruling.
An appeal against the decision is due to be heard early in 2017.
