Seacat Services has secured a crew transfer contract at Dong Energy’s 258MW Burbo Bank 2 wind farm in the Irish Sea.
Offshore construction is due to commence at the 32-turbine project where Seacat will provide four vessels each on call for up to 11 months.
Seacat Defender, Seacat Volunteer, Seacat Ranger and Seacat Endeavour will all be deployed and operated by a 22-strong team.
“Supporting the Burbo Bank extension project, in combination with the recent Race Bank charters, will create prospects not just for crews and support teams directly involved on the projects, but also for future apprentices and trainees entering a career in offshore wind,” said Seacat managing director Ian Baylis.
“With the Round 3 construction boom imminent, these long-term projects are simultaneously helping to sustain the momentum of the industry and preparing us for the next exciting phase of UK offshore wind development.”
Burbo 2 will feature MHI Vestas 8MW turbines. Components have also begun arriving at the pre-assembly port at Belfast Harbour where they will be loaded out to Liverpool Bay in September by A2Sea.
