TenneT has awarded a contract to Seafox to provide jack-up barge services for work on the DolWin alpha and gamma offshore platforms in the German North Sea.
Seafox will provide a jack-up barge able to accommodate up to 47 people in single cabins and capable of direct access to DolWin alpha (pictured) and gamma.
The work will be carried out from 12 September until 22 December.
The contract was awarded without a prior call for competition in the Official Journal of the EU because of “extreme urgency brought about by events unforeseeable”, according to the contract document.
This was “due to the fact that maintenance campaigns had to be postponed due to Covid-19, our contractor could not provide accommodation for the staff for the maintenance campaign and several campaigns had to be coordinated and merged, it was not possible to conclude an EU tender for this service item, since several aspects were flexible and could only be confirmed in the last two weeks”, the document said.
TenneT will also publish pre-qualification this month to be “prepared for unplanned and unpredictable future requirements of jack-up barges”.
