Great Yarmouth-based Seajacks has secured a contract to install turbine foundations at the 140MW Akita and Noshiro Port developments in Japan.
A Marubeni-led consortium is developing the project and Seajacks has secured a subcontract for the installation work, which will be carried out by its 100% subsidiary Seajacks Japan Ltd.
The installation gig will be carried out in 2021 and Seajacks will use its Zaratan jack-up vessel for the job.
Akita and Norshiro feature monopile and transition piece foundations that will support the project’s 33 MHI Vestas 4.2MW turbines.
The job will be Seajack’s first in Japan and the company is in the process of re-flagging the vessel so that it can operate in Japanese waters.
The foundations for the project will be fabricated by Netherlands-based Sif group.
