German manufacturer Senvion has agreed a new turbine supply contract with Trianel for the 200MW Borkum West 2 second phase offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The companies said the original contract had to be adjusted as a result of Senvion filing for self-administration in April.
The new deal will ensure that the remaining 17 out of 32 6.3MW machines will be delivered in autumn 2019, Senvion said.
Senvion’s service contract for the project remains unchanged, the company said.
It added that the developer is in “direct contractual relationship with subcontractors for the installation of wind turbines”.
News of delays to turbine deliveries for the project was first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS earlier this month.
Senvion chief executive Yves Rannou said: “We want to thank our customers of (Borkum West 2.2) for the constructive talks. The positive outcome secures the continuation of one of our key offshore projects during these challenging times.”
Borkum West 2.2 commercial director Klaus Horstick said: “Together with Senvion, we have found a viable solution that ensures the production and on-time delivery of the remaining wind turbines.
“This enables us to continue the construction phase of the offshore wind farm and start the installation campaign in June.”
Construction had been planned to start in mid-April, by which time 15 of the 32 turbines had already been delivered on time and transported to the base port in Eemshaven, Senvion said.
Borkum West 2.2 technical director Irina Lucke said the wind farm is still on schedule to be commissioned by the end of the year as a result of the new deal.
