Floating offshore wind outfit CoensHexicon has signed a joint development agreement with Shell to develop, build and operate a floating wind farm 40km from the South Korean coastline.
CoensHexicon, a Swedish-South Korean joint venture, began development in early 2019 through the TwinWind Development project company.
The floating wind farm is proposed off the coast of the industrial city of Ulsan.
CoensHexicon board member Henrik Baltscheffsky said: “This is the beginning of our commercial journey in South Korea and similar places elsewhere in the world.
“Our collaboration with Shell will result in in-depth expertise and expertise in developing and operating a large floating wind farm.
“This includes serial production in South Korea by the patented design of multi-turbine platforms developed by Hexicon in Sweden.”
