Oil major Royal Dutch Shell is looking to buy into UK and German offshore wind farms.
Reuters is reporting that the company will not build projects but look to take stakes in leases, citing Shell wind business operations manager Dorine Bosman as its source.
Shell is part of a consortium including Eneco, Van Oord and Mitsubishi/Diamond Generating Europe that earlier this week won the right to develop and build the 680MW Borssele 3&4 offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.
The winning strike price bid excluding transmission costs was €54.50 per megwatt hour.
