The Scottish port of Invergordan has been chosen as a back-up storage port during the construction of the 588MW Beatrice wind farm in the Moray Firth.
Balance of plant contractor Seaway Heavy Lifting plans to use the Cromarty Firth site to store pin piles and grouting used for installation of the turbine jacket foundations, as first reported in reNEWS.
All foundation jackets will be shipped direct from the yards of fabrication outfits Bladt, BiFab and Smulders Projects to the Moray Firth site starting later this year.
“SHL has chosen for Invergordan because it is the closest to the offshore site and most suitable,” the company said.
