Siem Offshore Contractors has extended a contract with Dutch offshore gangway specialist Ampelmann for the E1000 motion compensated access system.
The system (pictured), which has a gangway that can be transformed into a crane boom, has already completed 12,000 people and 7000 cargo transfers between the Siem Marlin support vessel and turbines over a 10-month period at Germany’s first commercial offshore wind farm.
Ampelmann operations engineer Steven Vis said: “This new contract underlines the successful partnership between all parties in delivering innovation.”
Siem Offshore Contractors IMR manager Jan Holtermann said: “We are looking forward to using the E1000 on our vessels for further inspection, maintenance and repair works on offshore wind farms.”
