Siemens will today launch the next phase of recruitment for its new wind turbine blade factory in Hull, by advertising 100 jobs to will take the numbers hired to over 500.
The new positions are for four group leads, seven team leads, three quality controllers and 86 operatives in the warehouse, maintenance, packing, coating, assembly and finishing departments.
Start dates for the jobs will be between September and November, Siemens said.
New staff will be trained at a combination of the Hull College Group Composites Training Centre on Hull’s Preston Road estate, at a warehouse at Alexandra Dock that has been converted into a training facility, and the factory itself.
The German company said more than 450 jobs have been filled or have people due to join the company so far.
Siemens meanwhile put long-term plans potentially to export blades from the facility “on hold” until there is clarity about the UK’s future role with the European Union. The blade plant is understood to be at near capacity for at least the next four years.
Pan-European Research and manufacturing initiatives with other countries are also in doubt, said UK chief executive Jurgen Maier.
