Siemens Gamesa has inked a firm order with Innogy for supply of turbines to the 342MW Kaskasi wind farm in the German North Sea.
The German-Spanish outfit will deliver 38 8MW machines with 167 metre rotors to the project, which is located 35km off the island of Heligoland.
Installation is due to start in July 2022, the turbine manufacturer said in a stock exchange filing. A two-year service and maintenance contract is also included.
The deal firms up an agreement reported last year as part of the developer’s plans to redesign the project, which name-checked the hardware choice.
Monopile foundations are due to feature at the wind farm, according to the plans submitted to authorities in Germany.
The revised designs reflect “the latest technology developments in the market”, which include “innovations in foundation design and installation methods”, the developer said at the time.
Nine of the turbine locations will be pilot installations to test technologies that include “vibro and self-expanding pile shoes”, according to the plans.
