Siemens Gamesa is toasting the installation of its 5000th offshore wind turbine at the 1400MW Sofia project off east England.
The company’s turbines are installed around the world, from Europe to Asia-Pacific and the United States.
From the Vindeby wind farm in Denmark to the Sofia array in the UK, Siemens Gamesa says it has been a pioneer in offshore wind energy since 1991.
It claims its turbines have powered 27 million homes and avoided 139 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
“Since 1991, Siemens Gamesa has pioneered offshore wind across Europe, APAC, and the US,” the company stated in a celebratory video.
“Today, we celebrate a great achievement: 5000 turbines installed offshore.
“Step by step, we’re shaping the future of offshore wind!”
