Siemens Gamesa has confirmed it has shelved plans for an offshore wind turbine nacelle factory at the Danish port of Esbjerg.
The OEM said it is unable to take an investment decision on the project in the current market environment.
A spokesperson said: “Siemens Gamesa has maintained a longstanding presence at the Port of Esbjerg, which is a strategically important location for our offshore wind operations, also in the future.
“Like in any other place, we continue to evaluate potential investment opportunities. However, given the current market conditions, any such decision will require greater clarity and stability in the industry.”
No timeframe on when the factory plans may be revived has been given.
Earlier this week, Vestas confirmed it had paused plans to develop a manufacturing facility in Poland for offshore turbine blades, citing “lower than projected demand for offshore wind in Europe”.
