Siemens Gamesa has signed 10 non-binding supplier agreements aimed at developing a local supply chain for the offshore wind industry in Taiwan.
The memorandums of understanding are with six tier one global suppliers and four local companies, the turbine manufacturer said.
A deal with Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group and AH Industries covers machining for large steel and metal components, while Jupiter Bach will deliver composites for turbines.
KK Wind Solutions is signed up for control systems and converters, RMG Steel sheet metal and welding, Wuerth C-parts and fasteners, and Walsin Lihwa Corp high voltage cables.
An agreement for cooling systems has been made with Nissens and for yaw motors with Teco Electric and Machinery.
Two MoUs have been agreed for low voltage cable harnessing, one with Sinbon Electronics and Ta Ya Electric Wire and Cable, and the other with Sinbon and Walsin Lihwa.
The terms of each agreement include establishing or using facilities in Taiwan and compliance with Siemens Gamesa’s health, safety and environment standards.
Siemens Gamesa will also provide support and advice on technical issues.
