Siemens Gamesa has signed a preferred supplier agreement with Equinor and Polenergia for the 1440MW Baltyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea off Poland.
Equinor and Polenergia will take delivery of the 14-236 DD turbine model, which has nominal power of 14MW but can be boosted to 15MW.
The exact number of turbines for the projects will be determined when the final supply agreement is signed, Equinor said.
Equinor chief procurement officer Mette Ottoy said: “We are very pleased to select the turbine supplier for two of Poland’s first offshore wind power projects.
“The delivery of wind turbine generators is the largest contract for the projects, and we have secured an experienced supplier with a proven track record of deliveries to Equinor.
“We have selected a wind turbine that is the best solution for the overall business case and we look forward to further maturing the projects in collaboration with Siemens Gamesa.”
Baltyk 2 and 3 were awarded initial Contracts for Difference in May 2021 and will be among the first Polish offshore wind farms when they are built around 27km and 40km from the port of Leba.
Equinor has acquired a plot at the port for a future O&M base.
A final investment decision is earmarked for 2024 with first power expected in 2027.
