Siemens Gamesa will supply turbines for Equinor and Grupa Polenergia’s Baltyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms, which have a combined capacity of 1440MW.
The companies signed the final contracts for the production, delivery and service of 100 of Siemens Gamesa’s SG 14-236 DD turbines offshore wind turbines.
These are the largest offshore turbines produced by the company to date, each having a capacity of 14.4MW.
The contracts signed with Siemens Gamesa cover the design, production and commissioning, as well as their maintenance and warranty service.
“The conclusion of the final agreement with the turbine supplier for the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 projects is a key step in the development of these projects,” said Michal Jerzy Kolodziejczyk, Chairman of the Management Board of Equinor in Poland.
“Our priority is to introduce the highest quality technologies to the Polish market, which will allow for the construction of a modern offshore wind energy sector. Our goals include providing Poland with clean energy from renewable sources, based on leading and most efficient solutions.
“The Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 wind farms planned for 2027 will be among the first in the Polish sea. Their launch will have a significant impact on the energy security of Polish, ensuring stable renewable energy for many years to come.”
