Siemens has given the name Windea la Cour to the service operation vessel (SOV) which will work on the 600MW Gemini offshore wind farm off the Netherlands coast.
The Ulstein Verft Norway-built vessel is to set sail to start operations at the project this summer.
Siemens has supplied 150 4MW wind turbines for the project and is also to service Gemini for 15 years.
The Windea la Cour (pictured) is specially designed and is part of Siemens’ “advanced offshore wind service concepts” which have been “developed to increase the uptime of the wind turbines”.
Siemens has chartered the vessel from Bernhard Schulte Offshore.
It is the third Siemens-chartered SOV to be christened so far.
In June 2015, Siemens christened Esvagt Faraday, which is supporting service operations at the Butendiek offshore wind farm in the North Sea, and Esvagt Froude, which is working at EnBW’s Baltic II wind farm in the Baltic Sea.
A fourth SOV, also to be chartered by Siemens from Bernhard Schulte, will be used for service operations at the Sandbank and Dan Tysk wind projects.
