Sif Netherlands has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Entrion Wind to partake in a demonstration project for the latter’s monopile innovation.
Entrion Wind is developing the Fully Restrained Platform (FRP).
The FRP monopile combines fixed and floating platform technologies extending the water depths of the structure up to 100 metres.
Under the MoU, the two companies will jointly cooperate to further develop the FRP concept.
Subject to the completion of the ongoing FRP development and technical findings, Sif Netherlands will assist amongst others with identifying a project site in Europe and support the evaluation of monopile design and fabrication.
DNV has issued a Statement of Feasibility, affirming that the FRP monopile is considered conceptually feasible and a promising candidate for further development and qualification.
Sif Netherlands may also assist in the overall planning, detailed design, and monopile supply for a the full FRP demonstration project.
“Entrion Wind is pleased to welcome Sif Netherlands as a partner for the planned demonstration study. Sif Netherlands’ expertise, history, focus and strategy as a pioneer and a leading international fabricator of offshore wind foundations makes the company a preferred strategic partner for Entrion Wind,” said Entrion chief executive Eivind Johnsen.
