Monopile manufacturer Sif has begun mobilising funds and signing key contractor agreements to progress the €328m expansion of its new XXL factory in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Following the company’s EGM on 28 March 2023 to approve the revision of the company’s articles of association, 50,000 cumulative preferred shares were issued to and €50m was paid-up by Equinor Renewables.
In parallel, key contracts with contractors and equipment-suppliers were also signed.
For civil and building works, Sif has contracted DURA Vermeer and steelworks are contracted to Iemants Eiffage.
All parties operate in collaborative contracting and have started preparation works with first activities on site underway.
Critical manufacturing process systems like plate preparation equipment, rollers, welding equipment and rollerbeds have been ordered.
Sif expects approximately €150m of envisaged capital expenditure will be spent in 2023 with the remainder due for 2024.
Construction is expected to start at the Maasvlakte 2 location in April next year and the facility will produce 200 foundations annually.
