Sif Group has won a contract to produce 42 monopiles for the 309MW Rentel offshore wind farm off the Belgian coast.
The Dutch company said it will also supply all the transition pieces in partnership with Smulders Projects.
Sif will produce the primary steel and Smulders will outfit the transition pieces.
Production is scheduled to start early in the new year and continue until the end of the third quarter.
The contract has been awarded by GeoSea, the unit of DEME that is the main contractor for the offshore project.
The Rentel wind farm, located about 34 kms off the coast of Zeebrugge, will comprise 42 Siemens 7MW turbines optimised to 7.35MW.
