Skyborn has secured state planning approval for its Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The company said the permit, issued on 16 December, enables it to move toward a final investment decision in summer 2026, with construction planned over two years and commissioning in 2028.
The project will feature 63 turbines of the 15MW class and is expected to generate 4TWh of green electricity annually, equivalent to the consumption of about one million households, Skyborn added.
“We are delighted to present Skyborn with the approval from the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the Gennaker offshore wind farm today,” said minister Dr Backhaus.
“The approval includes the highest environmental standards and ensures that the project will be constructed and operated in an environmentally friendly manner.”
