Orsted has announced the first shipment of blades and nacelles for its 132MW South Fork Wind project has arrived at the Port of New London, Connecticut, ahead of installation off the New York coast.
Each of the blades for the 11MW turbines is over 300 feet long and was delivered by United Heavy Lift cargo vessel Fierce.

The offshore wind project is expected to be the first fully operational offshore wind farm in US federal waters later this year, the Danish developer said.
Array cable installation is ongoing, and later this summer and into the autumn, South Fork Wind will begin installing the 11MW wind turbines, Orsted added.
Once installed later this year, just one rotation of the blades can power a house for a day.
