Spain’s first offshore wind turbine has been commissioned off the coast of the Canary Islands, according to the Canaries renewable energy association.
A consortium led by Spanish company Esteyco installed the 5MW project off the island of Gran Canaria last year.

The project is piloting a ‘self-installing’ turbine with a telescopic tower and concrete foundation.
It features Siemens Gamesa hardware.
