SPIE’s Correll unit has been awarded two multi-year framework agreements to carry out cable testing and fault finding for Vattenfall’s offshore wind farms in Europe.
The framework agreements cover all existing and potential new-build Vattenfall offshore wind farms in Europe, excluding Germany, for an initial five-year period.
The works are in relation to the high voltage (HV) submarine cable systems, pinpointing positions of electrical faults in a wire by means of suitable testing, condition monitoring and/or specific line testing before re-energisation.
One agreement covers offshore wind farms in UK waters and the second one covers the rest of Europe (excluding Germany and the UK).
As the first entity to join SPIE’s wind power business unit, Correll brings to SPIE Global Services Energy its expertise in electrical engineering for the offshore wind industry.
Correll managing rirector Sam Dowey said: “The award of these contracts firmly positions SPIE as the leading high-voltage service provider to the offshore wind industry.
“Correll has extensive experience in working on many of the most significant offshore wind farms around the world, so the award of two multi-year framework agreements from one of the offshore industry giants is a glowing testament to the entire team’s hard work and tenacity.”
