The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has set out the basis for future offshore wind feasibility assessments in the states of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu in India.
In a new report – Supply Chain, Port Infrastructure and Logistics Study – GWEC assesses key supply chain elements of the offshore wind industry, together with a preliminary evaluation of companies entering the sector.
The study reviews port infrastructure and logistics, identifying the main component specifications, vessel requirements and installation strategies, GWEC said.
It also suggests possible improvements that will be required for manufacturing, installation and OEM of offshore wind farms.
The report is seen as a step forward in preparing a roadmap for offshore wind power in India by the GWEC-led Fowind consortium.
Fowind plans to complete the roadmap by 2018.
