SSE is expected to announce a positive final investment decision on its 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm in Scotland by the end of the month.
The developer is in the final stages of discussions with project investors Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and SDIC Power of China (25%), which acquired the former Repsol stake earlier this year.
The investment decision, which was initially expected earlier this year, will be announced within a fortnight, it is understood.
The outer Moray of Firth wind farm will feature up to 84 Siemens 7MW turbines.
Beatrice will also feature two Siemens-developed Offshore Transmission Modules installed on two additional standalone jacket foundations.
In January, independent energy company Danske Commodities said it would manage 50% of the output from the project as part of a 15-year power purchase agreement.
Onshore transmission works have also been consented, with Wick confirmed as an O&M base.
