STX France has started building the offshore substation for Eon and Statoil’s 385MW Arkona offshore wind farm to be located 35km northeast of Rügen Island in the Baltic Sea.
The company has an EPCI contract, first reported in the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS, to deliver the jacket foundation, piles and topside, as well as take charge of transport and installation.
STX said following a year design phase it has now started the first steel cutting for the substation at its Anemos workshops.
Fabrication will take untill the end of the year, followed by erection and painting, STX said.
The company said the contract also includes a one-year maintenance period.
Schneider Electric will provide the full electrical package and ABB the electricity transformers, while SHL will transport and install the substation.
