Vattenfall has selected Subsea 7 Renewables and Heavy Lifting for a foundations and array cable installation contract at the 760MW Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm off the Netherlands.
The marine contractor will be responsible for transporting and hammering in all in 76 monopiles and laying in-field wires at the zero-subsidy project, located 30km from shore in the North Sea.
Subsea 7’s main office in the Netherlands will lead the job, which will be carried out in 2022 subject to a final investment decision.
The value of the contract will not be recognised in the company’s books until a final contract is signed.
HKZ 1&2 will feature Siemens Gamesa 10MW turbines and is expected online in 2023.
In addition, the installation company has been selected by Vattenfall for the same scope at the up to 760MW HKZ 3&4 should the Swedish utility-developer secure the project rights in a tender, which is ongoing.
Subsea 7 Renewables and Heavy Lifting senior vice president Steph McNeill said: “We look forward to working collaboratively with Vattenfall as a trusted partner to support the installation of the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farms and help to deliver the first zero-subsidy offshore wind projects in the Netherlands.”
