Vattenfall has selected Swire Blue Ocean to install all 152 Siemens Gamesa 10MW turbines that will feature across its 750MW Hollandse Kust Zuid 1&2 and 760MW Hollandse Kust Zuid 3&4 offshore wind complex off the Netherlands.
The projects will be the first to feature the latest Siemens Gamesa machine, which has a 193-metre rotor diameter.
Vattenfall project manager for the Netherlands Ireen Geerbex told reNEWS using the same installation contractors across both projects will help ensure the wind farms are delivered efficiently.
Swire’s turbine installation fleet is made up of jack-ups Pacific Osprey (pictured) and Pacific Orca.
The developer will also employ offshore contractor Seaway 7 to install all the foundations and array cabling at both projects.
Seaway 7’s fleet includes crane vessels Stannislav Yudin and Oleg Strashnov as well as cable installation vessel Seaway Aimery and installation support vessel Seaway Moxie.
HKZ1&2 is due online in 2022-23 and offshore installation work will commence at the site one year before work at 3&4 begins.
